WELCOME
Our vision for peter's place is to provide a peaceful, welcoming space where bereaved parents can have free breaks to rest and be themselves.
About
peter's place at Manoir Mouret exists to share a welcoming home with people who need a place to rest and reflect, it's for those who need a break. All peter's place breaks are free.

Working with the UK charity, The Compassionate Friends, peter's place offers free weeks to their members, parents (and siblings), who have suffered the loss of a child.
Manoir Mouret is available to rent throughout the year for holidays, wellness retreats, weddings and events. The income from these paying guests enables us to provide the free breaks. peter’s place is new for us, only made possible by the beautiful place that is Manoir Mouret. Covid obviously had a big impact in 2020 and 2021 but in the summmer of 2022 we were able to welcome TCF parents and over 3 TCF weeks in 2023 over 40 bereaved parents stayed at Manoir Mouret.
Our Story
peter’s place is named in loving memory of Margaret’s younger brother, Peter, a happy and inspiring person. Peter was born with physical and mental challenges. At birth his life expectancy was very short, and he spent his first 2 years in Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London. But he outlived everyone’s expectations and enjoyed being at home with his family until his death at 22. He was cared for wonderfully by our Mum and Dad, Colin and Shirley, who not only looked after their own family but also did lots in their community to support other handicapped people and their families. 10 years after Peter’s death Colin suffered a severe stroke and Shirley, and the family, once again became carers.
Our Vision
Jack and I know from personal experience that both grief and caring are tiring and can be overwhelming. Our mission at peter's place is to provide a peaceful, welcoming space where bereaved parents can have free breaks to rest and be themselves.
Our vision is that, over time, we can make available the equivalent of up to 4 “peter’s place weeks” a year at Manoir Mouret which could mean over 60 people a year benefiting from a free break here.
